Sienna Miller Joins Bradley Cooper for Eastwood's 'American Sniper'
Though the film was jostled around a bit when Steven Spielberg
decided to step out of the director's chair, Clint Eastwood is moving
swiftly to get his adaptation of the true story American Sniper off the ground with Bradley Cooper in the lead. Now we know who will play Cooper's wife in the film with The Wrap reporting Sienna Miller has landed the female lead in the new film from Warner Bros. Miller beat out Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif from Thor)
for the role, and Eastwood had a tough decision choosing between the
two over the past week. Kata Mara was also in the running, but she had
booked Fantastic Four instead.
The film is based on Navy SEAL Chris Kyle's autobiography titled American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History with a screenplay adapted by Jason Hall, who wrote Paranoia. It tells the story of how Kyle racked up the most confirmed kills for an American during his time in the armed forces. Meanwhile, his wife is left to raise their children as he fights overseas. Eastwood is still working on Jersey Boys, but production on American Sniper will begin next month, with Cooper also producing the film. Miller has stayed mostly low key on the big screen, but she'll pop up in Foxcatcher.
